Red Velvet Cake - 14th September 2015

Red Velvet Cake

Hey guy's so I've done another bake Red Velvet Cake I've always wanted to make this cake so I thought I would give it a go, I've always loved the look and the style of Red Velvet Cake and its the one cake I've never made.

Here is the recipe I used and a step by step guild to how its made.

Key Information:-

| Prep: 25mins | Bake: 30mins |

Ingredients :-

120g Butter (Unsalted)

300g White Caster Sugar

2 Large Eggs

50g Cocoa Powder

2 TBSP Red Food Colouring Gel

1TSP Vanilla Extract

300g Plain White Flour

1TSP Salt

240ml Butter Milk

1 TBSP White Wine Vinger

1 TSP Bicarbonate Soda

The Method

Step One
Cream together butter and the sugar in a large mixing bowl with a wooden spoon or a electric mixer until light and fluffy. Once mixed then add your 2 eggs one at a time whilst mixing, until both eggs are mixed in.

Step Two
Seive the cocoa powder into the mixture and add your vanilla extract. Sieving your dry ingredients will also bring air to your cake which will help it rise.

Step Three
Sift the flour into another bowl and add your salt and mix together. Slowly add half the flour to the chocolate mixture, then add half of your buttermilk and mix together.
*Mix well then add the other half of the flour and last of the buttermilk and mix.

Step Four
Add two tablespoons of red food colouring gel to the mixture, making sure its mixed in well.
*If you want it redder then add more gel.

Step Five
In a small mug combine the white wine vinegar and the bicarbonate of soda, Then add straight into your mixture, Stir until well combined.
*your white wine vinegar and soda will bubble up.

Step Six
Split the mixture between the two lined tin's and place them into the oven at 180'c (fan 160'c, gas mark 4). for approximately 30 minutes. Your cake will be ready as soon as your knife comes out clean once your poked your cake.

Step Seven
Once your cakes have completely cooled you then can add the filling of your choice I fine it easy piping the filling with a piping bag to get the perfect level in the centre of your cake, For my filling I used Betty Crocker Vanilla Icing. Once you have added your filling then place your second sponge on top and add your final touch.

Finished

I hope you enjoyed this post guy's if any of you have tried making this cake then please share below I would love to see your results.

Much Love

Amy
